Coleus are one of the rare plants that are grown almost exclusively for colorful foliage. Coleus are truly in their glory in masses and their leaves are available in green, purple, orange, red, yellow, and in a striking array of patterns. They have some of the most stunningly colored foliage. Coleus also have a wide variety of leaf sizes and overall shapes. This means that no matter what area you are looking to put coleus, you can find one that will be perfect. These plants are great for adding color in the garden (or home), especially in those dark, drab-looking corners.
Caring for coleus is just as easy. They need to be kept moist, especially newly planted coleus. Container plants also require more frequent watering than those grown in the garden.
It is commonly recommended that the blooms of Coleus be removed as soon as they appear because they detract from the foliage display.
Light: Prefers shade or moderate light or sunlight. If the color is drained from the coleus plant's leaves, it is getting too much sun. If the coleus plant begins to lose its leaves, it probably is not getting enough light. Too much direct light may burn the leaves if plant is not watered properly.
Water: When it comes to watering the coleus plant, keep its potting moist but never soggy.
