World Environment Day (WED) - June 5 - is the United Nations’ most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. UNEP WED theme 2019 is fighting air pollution. “WE CAN’T STOP BREATHING. BUT WE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE QUALITY OF OUR AIR”. We will be creating awareness about air pollution and what we can do to fight it
We have come up with New Initiative BREATHE FRESH INDOORS Campaign 2019, which aims to fight indoor air pollution. We spend 90% of our lifetime indoors and we should take care of our indoor air quality more than anything. Plants are the cheapest air purifier and humidifiers and have been known to have beneficial effects on human health and psychology. Even NASA, EPA and WHO have come up with studies related to plants and their effects indoors. We want people to have a clear understanding about urban indoor pollution. We hope that the event, free plants distribution drive, activities and contest for #breathefreshindoors gains participation from all and is successful like our past campaigns.
Benefits of indoor Plants:
Modernization has ultimately made us too gadget friendly and lovers of technology. Nature and its components seem to be virtual world, which has very less of attention. As we build bigger cities, we're not aware how much and how fast we're undermining our connection to nature. Our high technology gadget friendly cities may provide us with everything but we are totally missing out on opportunity of being humans and connected to elements of nature. Bringing garden indoors or having some greenery at work spaces & homes connects you directly with Mother Nature. Thoughtfully picked natural plants can offer meaningful interaction with nature with a psychologically restorative natural environment even in a dull and boring space.
Did You Know? There is 5 times more pollution indoors. Considering that in an urban set up we spend 90%of our lifetime indoors, indoor plants are cheapest best natural solution to significantly improve Indoor Air Quality (IAQ). They oxygenate, humidify, and remove harmful toxic pollutants, VOC's dust, bacteria & molds. 1 air purifying plant per 100 square feet can decrease indoor air pollution by 87%.Plants Increase Efficiency and Productivity and reduces Sick building syndrome by 25%.Plants reduce stress, reduce minor illnesses, reduces background noise, enhances mood, initiates better sleep and benefits overall health.
